Noetzie Beach is one of the little gems to visit on the Garden Route. It isn’t the most well known beach in the area, but it’s secluded, easy to access, and breathtakingly beautiful.
Unlike neighboring Plettenburg Bay, where you have an expansive beach near the city, the Knysna waterfront is a lagoon. For beach access in the area, there are a bunch of small beaches nearby like Wilderness, Sedgefield, Noetzie Beach, and Buffalo Bay.
Noetzie Beach caught my eye because I kept reading about the Noetzie castles. I love castles! Was the beach going to have a castle like Dubrovnik (Game of Thrones)? Was this a beach head for battles against invaders from Antarctica??
Unfortunately, here’s what the Noetzie castles really look like.
Little did I know these are not real castles! They are beach houses that are designed like castles. Oh well. ????
Accessing Noetzie Beach
Noetzie Beach is just 15-20 minutes by car from Knysna and easily mappable by GPS. You’ll drive past Pezula Private Estate — a fancy pants private community with giant-ass houses. That’s not where you’re going.
A parking lot for Noetzie Beach is available and free.
From there, there are signs that It is a short walk to the beach. Down a few steps and then it opens up to the pristine beach.
This was one of the best beaches we hung out at on the Garden Route. It’s worth a quick stop or for several hours. There are no facilities or restaurants on the beach, so your time here may be capped.
Enjoy your time at Noetzie Beach!
